Our Story

How it all started...

Christ the King Lutheran Church started in 1981 as a mission of the Lutheran Church in America. It grew rapidly under the leadership of Pastor Doug Larson and began to worship in their own building in 1985. Growth continued and in 1995 the building was expanded. Under their second pastor, Jon Anderson, Christ the King continued is growth and when he left, the congregation continued under the leadership of Pastor Scott Jakel and   Gloria Anderson. In 2008, Pastor Tim Anderson started serving the congregation.  Christ the King is a living and active witness to the good news of Jesus Christ for all. You are invited to come and join in worship, study, prayer and service in this community and beyond.

Expanding the vision...

Christ the King participates in the community through the New Ulm Ministerial, NUMAS Haus homeless shelter, support for Ivy House Crisis Nursery, the New Ulm Food Shelf and other ways of serving the community. Outside of New Ulm, the congregation supports Green Lake Bible Camp, Food for the Poor and Lutheran Social Services and Lutheran World Relief.

Where we are headed...

It is hard to tell the future, but Christ the King continues to seek new ways to serve and witness in a changing world. We invite you to come along for a journey of faith and service.
